The more I think about it, the more I think the Iraq visit was selfish and dangerous. a politically self-indulgent maneuver. At first, I thought "how can you criticize the president for visiting the troops", but what if he were shot down? Ugh. I can only imagine the required response and outcry. Speaking of which, the visit itself is such a stark contrast to the mission accomplished stunt. I know lots has been written about both pieces, but think about it -- the commander in chief can't let anyone know he's coming, because the situation is so bad. If anything, it highlights the difficulties we're having there. Sheesh.
