Red Herring

I'm not the first one to point this out - but the entire Gonzales flap seems to have been turned to Bush's advantage in one sense - people are talking about good ol' Alberto and not Iraq or the funding bill. What should be an absolute embarrassment is turning out to be just what Bush needs - a distraction. Why would he keep his old buddy Gonzo in the front lines unless he wants him to be taking the bullets for Bush? The same was true for Wolfowitz, but Wolfie's tenure at the bank is much less under U.S. control, so he had to go.

Gonzales is the wrong focus. The Democrats need to focus on ending the war. Sure, it's great to be able to sling some more arrows at the white house - but to what end? What is the goal here?
