John McCain -- Democrat!!!

I, as a lot of you, have been thinking that the most difficult GOP candidate to beat would be John McCain. Well, the Romney people have put together an ad that should make Republicans think twice about voting for him....

I was on the phone yesterday with an old friend of mine, who is a stalwart GOP insider. I had mentioned that I thought the only Republican who probably wouldn't throw the country into ruin was McCain. He said that the GOP doesn't even consider McCain a Republican.

Now - for any of you who think McCain isn't all that bad, and that he might be a good choice for the Presidency, I have one thing to say about that -- maybe you're right, and maybe he wouldn't be so awful (I wouldn't hold my breath, though). However, he would be the oldest president elected. Why is this important, you might ask? Well - if McCain does get the nomination, then there may be a great deal of pressure for him to put a reliable wing-nut on the ticket to pick up the base. Now, if something were to happen to McCain, and we had, say, Newt, or heaven forbid - Lieberman (would he really run for VP twice...??) well then we'd be stuck.

Food for thought.

That's such a good point about McCain's VP, plus I think McCain would act like a wing nut in office anyway. For instance, we can't trust any of those Republicans, including McCain, with the Supreme Court. Next, McCain is happy to stay in Iraq 100 years, and he's vowing to keep Bush's tax cuts permanently. Then we have "the WMDs are in Jordan" Huckabee...ugh.

"Bomb, bomb, bomb. Bomb, bomb Iran." I think that says it all.
